Plan B Wedding Weather Tips: Hot Days, Rainy Forecasts, and How to Stay Ceremony-Ready

Planning a wedding in Western Australia means embracing sunshine and unpredictable forecasts.
While we all hope for blue skies, sometimes nature has other ideas. As a celebrant who has married couples in vineyards, parks, and beachside venues across Perth and the South West. I’ve seen it all windy afternoons, last minute downpours, and blistering heatwaves.

That’s why having a solid Plan B is not just smart. It’s essential.

Why Plan B Matters

You’ve invested in a beautiful day. You want your guests comfortable, your vendors confident, and your ceremony running smoothly. When couples don’t have a backup plan, the stress shows and trust me, soggy paperwork or heat exhausted guests are not the vibe you want walking down the aisle.

Wet Weather Wedding Tips

Here’s what to consider if the forecast turns grey:

  • Check your venue’s backup options early. Many outdoor venues offer a marquee, undercover deck, or indoor space. Ask what’s available and how quickly a decision needs to be made.

  • Have a wet weather call time. Usually around 12–24 hours before the wedding. Decide who makes the call; you, your planner, or me (your celebrant).

  • Clear umbrellas. They look elegant in photos and can keep your crew dry if you’re set on staying outdoors.

  • Towel and signage station. For guests arriving wet or confused, a few thoughtful extras go a long way.

  • Protect the paperwork. I always bring waterproof folders and spares in case of weather hiccups. It is your legal marriage paperwork after all!

Hot Weather Wedding Tips

WA weddings often come with sunshine, but when it hits 35°C and up, it’s no joke.
Here’s how to prepare:

  • Shift to shade. Trees, verandas, and shade sails can turn a sweltering ceremony into a breezy one.

  • Water for guests. Have cold drinks ready, especially if the ceremony is outdoors or mid afternoon.

  • Keep the ceremony short and sweet. We can still make it heartfelt without dragging out vows under a beating sun.

  • Fans, parasols, sunscreen. Comfort is key for everyone involved.

  • Tech check. Heat can affect microphones and equipment. I always arrive early to test everything.

Your Celebrant’s Role in Plan B

As your celebrant, I come ready with backups and a calm attitude. I’ll liaise with your vendors, adjust timing, and adapt the ceremony style as needed. Whether we need to shift indoors, swap music tracks, or towel off a damp signing table. I’ve got you.

You Can’t Control the Weather—But You Can Prepare

Plans change. Guests run late. The wind picks up. Music fails. Wedding parties get sick. You can’t control everything, and you do not need to. But a bit of prep means your day still flows beautifully, with a ceremony that reflects your love, not the weather.

And if things go sideways? I’ll be there with calm energy and a spare pen.

Final Thoughts

Weather is just one part of the day, but being prepared for it can make all the difference. Let’s build a Plan B that makes you feel confident, no matter what the sky says.
